Book 3 Page 330
Each page is divided into two parts. The left part is the teacher's side. It contains new words and questions in bold type. The right part is the student's side. It contains phonetic transcriptions and answers. Such an arrangement is less confusing for both the student and the
teacher and makes learning more fun for both. All important points, including grammar, are displayed in grey tables. Making grammar rules easy to remember is a priority in DME.

Tired of asking or being asked too many questions?
Now there can be even more fun with the direct method. The DME books contain tasks where students can ask each other questions without their teacher's help.

Book 4 Page 469
Apart from traditional vocabulary, the DME books contain useful and practical idioms and phrases. Also, students find it interesting to study the word-building points that are quite indispensable for the FCE exam!

Book 4 Page 514
There are a great many questions in the DME books. We make sure that every meaning of a given word is practised well enough to be memorized.
We make sure that no teacher will ever have problems with finding a reading, grammar lesson or dictation. You can't get confused with the DME books, as they are arranged in a clear way. The DME system is very considerate towards teachers.

Book 1 page 1
We start with something rather obvious - asking about names. It's perhaps the simplest idea for a warm-up activity and the fastest way to introduce the method.

Book 2 page 137
Sometimes when it is not enough to just translate the word we provide proper examples.

Book 2 page 189
Instead of complicated technical vocabulary like 'interrogative', 'antecedent' or 'paradigm', which was common but disliked by students in the Callan Method books, the DME coursebooks contain few technical words. Instead we prefer to use simple terms like 'question' or 'verb form' which can easily be understood by any student.

Book 5 Page A8
The books contain grammar exercises for stages 1-10. The number of grammar lessons for each stage varies from three to five. The lessons are carefully planned to occur after specific grammar points. It gives the student additional opportunities to study difficult parts of English grammar. There are over 100 different grammar subjects explained in the books.

Book 6 Page 693
Some pages have a small arrow in the bottom right-hand corner which indicates that the group of questions is continued on the next page. Teachers seldom get unpleasant surprises with the Direct Method for English.

Book 5 page 566
Our books are the only coursebooks for the direct method which contain phonetic transcription. To help students understand the phonetic symbols and teach them correct pronunciation faster we included a phonetic chart in each book. The chart contains all the vowels and most of the consonants together with examples of usage from each book. The phonetic chart is also recorded on the enclosed CDs.

Book 5 page 562
One of the most challenging tasks for a direct method teacher is eliciting questions from students in the appropriate way. Teachers always wonder how much freedom they should give their students or how much strict they should be in making students repeat the exact answers from the book. The Direct Method for English has solved that issue. Some words in the answers are in bold. These are important words that the teacher must pay special attention to. They must not be omitted in the student's answer. Words in italics, on the other hand, are optional. The teacher ought to encourage students to use different options here and give their own examples.
