DIRECT Method for English

Direct Method for English (DME) are modern coursebooks designed for teaching English with the direct method. The DME books are the collaborative work of expert teachers with several years of experience in teaching English with direct methods. Based on the direct method, they help the student to master a lot of vocabulary as well as to learn to successfully communicate in English in an attractive and pleasant way.


The main advantages of the new, third edition include:

Each Book has been divided into 7 or 8 modules, at the end of which you will find a grammar lesson with exercises practising the structures introduced in a given module, as well as consolidating vocabulary. Communication sections with dialogues and texts thanks to which students can practise the vocabulary and structures necessary in specific situations (e.g. in a restaurant, in a shop or at the airport). This is an absolute novelty in direct method books.

The access to the e-learning programme is free for all the schools cooperating with our Publishing House. Thanks to this solution our Students are able to consolidate the already learnt material as well as revise for exams in a modern and very attractive way. Thus we will combine the advantages of work with a teacher in the classroom with self-study at home.

Direct Method for TEENS - 2nd edition

The second edition of DIRECT Method for TEENS series will be introduced as of September 2010. The coursebooks are designed for the youth of the age range between 12 and 16.

The books cover topics and issues of interest to teenagers, such as music, the Internet, sport, holidays, environment protection, school and many others. Vocabulary has been selected from the point of view of topicality and practicability and specifically adapted to the topics covered in the questions. We have made every effort to make the layout of the book atttractive and thereby to encourage the youth to use the coursebook.

In the new edition, each Direct Method for TEENS coursebook is composed of two parts:

• Student’s Book (with a CD)
• Workbook

Direct Method for TEENS are 6 coursebooks, each of which comprises two stages. Lessons in the coursebooks have been shortened. Each lesson has been enriched with a dictation - the point of this procedure is a more frequent change of activity kind during language lessons so as to maximise attention and motivation maintenance of Students despite shorter concentration period characteristic of teenagers.

WORKBOOK accompanying each coursebook includes a significantly increased number of communicative exercises – each workbook contains about 90 pages. The exercises have been divided into three parts:

• GRAMMAR LESSON - a set of exercises corresponding with grammar points discussed in the main coursebook;
• FAST FINISHERS - an additional set of grammar exercises for Students who finish doing exercises faster;
• VOCABULARY EXERCISES – a set of various vocabulary exercises, including crosswords, which can be used during normal classes in order to change activity kind to maintain Students’ attention or given as homework.

For each stage of Direct Method for TEENS we have prepared four sets of exercises in a workbook. Another novelty is the introduction of exercises for coursebook 6. Workbook 6 will differ from the others by a clear division into two parts - Part one will contain vocabulary exercises in the format of VOCABULARY EXERCISES + FAST FINISHERS adapted to the main coursebook number 6; whereas Part two will contain vocabulary exercises covering material from all DIRECT METHOD FOR TEENS 1-6.

DIRECT KIDS (Top Direct Publishers)

All merits of the direct method in coursebooks designed especially for primary school children. The purpose of each lesson is first of all to teach vocabulary and speaking in a pleasant and stimulating atmosphere. The syllabus, in a natural way, by means of simple questions and answers as well as visual aids introduces the child into the world of English. Children quickly acquire the skill of unrestrained communication in English.

The coursebook is divided into 6 parts, in accordance with age group and competence level:

Direct Kids 1, 2, 3, 4 - Enjoy your School Time
The coursebooks extend the basis of actively used vocabulary and introduce more possibilities for creating utterances with the use of new grammar points. Apart from extensive vocabulary derived from their environment, children learn some titbits about English speaking countries tradition and customs.


Direct Kids 5, 6 - Becoming a Teenager
The next stages mean further development of vocabulary, skill of conducting discussions on a variety of topics, as well as learning the ways of expressing and describing feelings and emotions. The books thoroughly consolidate grammar points learnt at previous stages and introduce new ones. At this stage of learning, children can already communicate and deal with various situations that they can encounter during their travels abroad.

The business coursebook in the direct method convention dedicated to people interested in such issues as promotion and advertising, marketing and management, public relations, negotiations, human resources, production and competition on the market, organization of companies, planning strategies and decision making processes, finances and banking terminology, financial services, shares and many others.


Direct Business coursebooks consist of 4 parts dedicated to different business issues:

• Communication in Everyday Life

Direct Business includes 750 new words and idioms related to the professional language. Due to the scope of the subject matter, the course is designed for Students representing the level of competence above intermediate. People related to business willing to participate in discussions with their business partners in a more efficient way should first build a solid basis of general English and then polish their specialist vocabulary.

DIRECT ADVANCED (Top Direct Publishers)

The coursebook in the direct method convention developing vocabulary, speaking and writing at the level above FCE. Dedicated to people who would like to keep in touch with the language, develop their vocabulary and linguistic fluency above an upper-intermediate level, no matter if they are planning to take the CAE or not.


The book includes:

• rich and interesting vocabulary - over 900 words, phrases, phrasal verbs and idioms with translations and examples of usage,
• phonetic transcription of new words and phrases,
• grammar points concentrated on advanced features, showing various possibilities of usage of different constructions and how this usage affects understanding or overtones of the message.
